Stratford Sharks Swimming Club (the Club) was formed on the 1st October 2001 when Avon Neptunes joined Stratford ASC to form a single club in the District of Stratford-upon-Avon in order to provide a centre of excellence for swimming in the district.

The Club is one of the oldest swimming clubs in Warwickshire, if not the oldest. Records and Trophies trace a history of swimming in the River Avon in the late 19th Century through to the present day swimming in modern swimming pools.

In March 2016 the club began the transition to Charitable Incorporated Organisation status when Stratford Sharks Swimming Club became listed on the Registry of Charities at the Charities Commission. Recognition of the Charity by HMRC for tax purposes followed and in September 2016 the transition was complete when the club voted to adopt the new Charity Constitution. For the first time the club has legal identity of its own and now operates within the legal framework of the Charities Commission.

The Charity is an Amateur Swimming Club affiliated to the West Midland Region and Warwickshire A.S.A. Our home pool is at the Stratford Leisure Centre but we also swim at Shipston Leisure Centre, and Banbury 50m outdoor pool in the summer time.

Our regular Friday club night is when all swimming activities take place.

The Charity has three initial Trustees who delegate specific responsibility and authority to a Swimming Group led by the Head Coach who run the club. The Swimming Group is supported by many dedicated volunteers.

Our thriving membership produces revenue generated from membership subscriptions & renewals, training fees, donations and sponsorship that enables us to support the cost of the diverse range of swimming activities.

In recent years the club has had an impressive record of success with Club Honours in junior and senior Leagues with individual swimmers competing at County, District, National level.

The Club was one of the first in the country to attain SWIM 21 accreditation. This standard Swim England's own quality assurance mark and demonstrates a good standard of club governance.
